There are many reasons to travel, but many people particularly in the United States might say something like "Why leave here?" or "Whats over there?".
Well, curiosity is a big draw and perfectly reasonable to want to experience another Culture, Country and way of life.
If you ever took a history class and were bored(Personally I have always loved history), going to see many of these actual places will blow away your preconceptions. I have always heard of Angkor Wat in Cambodia but when I actually saw it up close, I was truly blown away by the shear massiveness of the art, building and power of the place!
Travel changes you, It does not make you more liberal or conservative but it does at the least push your mind into new ways of thinking about things.
